Visualize your article going out like a party invitation

The implied message: "If you like this, come on back to my website to see what else I’ve got to show you."

People who read articles online scan for information of interest. Articles with a fun or warm person-to-person approach have an edge that a purely mental message can’t match. Novelty, humor, and wit are hard resist. Intangibles (novel point of view, personality, depth of knowledge) are more appealing than the information itself.

Readers who follow your link are willing to give your website a chance. They wonder if they’ll find lots more of whatever they liked about your article. Success with article marketing depends on how consistently your personality shows through.

Anyone who’s spent time online knows there are a zillion places to buy any product or service. An enterprise stands out by being unique and relevant. When the website navigation and copy are carefully designed, the article reader could become a repeat visitor or buyer.

Article marketing is a five-step process to get your message out

1.What can you say that’s interesting, original, and uniquely yours?
2.Who wants to know that? Know your buyer.
3.What ezines and websites do they follow?
4.Can you distill your message into a useful article? (Self-serving sales letters won’t fly)
5.How many relevant places can you find to post it?

There’s way too much recycled content online. Anyone who sends out fresh, in-depth articles on a topic will be noticed - and appreciated. Unsure if you can? Find anything you need to make your articles succeed http://www.promotewitharticles.com

THE FAME PART

1. People assume you’re an expert on subjects you write about
Shoot for consistent messages and delivery, so you become a trusted voice.

2. You share samples of your wisdom
Articles are long enough to reveal your perspective and savvy. That sets you apart from competitors in the public mind.

3. Reach targeted audiences with precision
The Internet excels at reaching small groups through specialized ezines and websites. Narrow niches are passionately interested in on-topic expertise. Articles appearing there reveal you’re an "insider."

4. Continuous article output builds name recognition and anticipation
People start watching for your next article.

5. Your reputation can grow quickly
Within a few days of posting, your message appears all over the Net.

6. Build relationships with editors and webmasters
As you send consistently high-quality material, they’re more eager to present it to their readers.

7. People seek you out with requests and opportunities
When they need services/products related to your savvy, who will they think of?

8. Search engine listings make you easy to find
Before writing articles, Google showed 100+ references to my name. Now it’s more than 1200 and growing - just from articles.

9. Readers trust you because you’ve helped them
Sharing your knowledge without hype or manipulation builds credibility - the prerequisite for any transaction.

10. You needn’t be a great writer, just a well-informed one
Offer specific tips, top-10 lists, how-I-solved-it stories.

THE FORTUNE PART

11. Marketing is about standing out, and article authors stand out
Sharpen your competitive advantage as a recognized known quantity in a very large pond.

12. Every article posted mentions your website in the signature box at the end
These result in greater Page Rank (Google’s measure of site popularity), links, and higher search engine ratings. Let search engines send business your way.

13. "Own" the search terms and keywords where you shine
Write repeated articles around a specific theme.

14. Search engines love content - and reward it
Articles provide keyword-rich content for your website and other related sites.

15. Articles increase your website traffic

16. Enhanced credibility lets you sell more products/services

17. Become sought as a Joint Venture insider
Your articles appear among well-known authorities, so you’re invited to participate in additional profit-making activities.

18. Develop a massive list of places that accept and publish your articles
The momentum and benefits build over time.

19. Articles remain posted online a long, and keep on working
Unlike ads, there’s no cost to post articles. And people trust them more.

20. You keep getting better and better
Your writing, promotional know-how, and professional skills grow, the longer you use them. That enhances your respect in your field.

Reap Rewards for the Long Term

Articles boost your professional identity - online and off. Think beyond a single article to a series that reinforces all your marketing efforts http://www.promotewitharticles.com/strategy100.html

Don’t you deserve the fame and fortune that posted articles can bring your way? Start writing. Keep posting them far and wide. And stay alert for fame and fortune.
©Lynella Grant, 2005

About the Author
--Dr. Lynella Grant Consultant and Author Promote yourself, business, website, or book with articles posted online. I am sure because there is no other form of marketing that I use. You would think that the fact that they got to hear about me and my services through the articles, in the first place, would give them a little more faith in this powerful form of online marketing and make them a little more confident.

Actually it is not that surprising when you consider that most people can hardly remember how they first came across a web site or business online.

While it is true that I stay in one of the less costly cities of the world (albeit away from my home country), I still have to support a wife, two children and a grandson. And I do it all from my online business.

You should also know that my income and leads generated through articles has been consistently growing at an increasing rate. That makes perfect sense because the facts are that as you increase the number of articles you have posted online and as the viral effect of your better articles getting re-posted all over the net takes place, the number of people exposed to your hybrid ads (that is exactly what articles posted on the net really are) increases dramatically. The inevitable affect of this is that you will get more leads and more business.

So the answer to the first question is YES.

The answer to the second question is also an emphatic YES. But I hasten to add that you will have to work very hard to reach that figure.

You will have to work very hard on the quality of your articles. And you will also have to be focused and focus all your articles, like a laser beam on a single subject, business and web site that you want to generate a million dollars for you.

For your articles to be really effective, they should strive to solve some pressing problem among your target market.

About the Author
Christopher Kyalo is a writer/marketing expert who makes money online only by posting free articles. If the octopus loses one limb it may momentarily lose some of its strength and agility, but it adapts and continues on as an effective hunter and predator.

It’s the same with marketing your business. The more marketing approaches you use simultaneously the more successful you can become and the easier it is to continue growing your company.

You will continue to thrive despite the challenges that your competitors may face. No setback in any one marketing approach will ever devastate you or pose major problems.

Despite the many options available most companies use no more than two or three marketing methods at best to grow their company.

Few realize that there are over 100 methods for bringing in new business, for increasing web traffic, for selling more to existing clients, and for increasing repeat sales that their competitors are not using.

They basically imitate worms in their marketing attempts. A worm’s approach to life is singular. It does not use multiple limbs because it has none. Its existence is slow and labor-intensive. Very unlike an octopus.

The great thing about this is that most competitors are making this same mistake. They may be too busy, too shorthanded, or too myopic to do much more than hand out boxes of business cards and sit around talking ‘fish stories’ of the one that got away.

That is a marketing approach to avoid.

Don’t just settle for an ad in the yellow pages, your local newspaper, or on the radio.

Use as many marketing methods as make sense for your industry, your market, and your company. Then you will become a marketing octopus while your competitors remain marketing worms.

About The Author

André Bell is principal marketing consultant with André Bell Consulting Group. It’s a good thought, a great thought; and I contend that what was true then is equally true today. But it seems to me that modern advertisers are tying themselves into unnecessary knots in an attempt to reach audiences which they believe are becoming increasingly indifferent to their blandishments.

Well, yes, markets are turning deaf ears and blind eyes, but they always have done, though not for the reasons generally espoused by the world’s marketers. I am convinced that despite all the sophisticated research and marketing effort that goes into advertising these days, the real reason that markets are indifferent to advertising is because much of it ignores the many splendoured principle that people don’t buy products, they buy the benefits of owning those products.

Today, the great proportion of advertisers don’t deliver sales messages, they tell what they hope are emotive stories with which the market can empathise, then they drop the product in as an afterthought, hoping that enough emotional cross-communication has been achieved for people to reach for their credit cards. That it doesn’t and people won’t has resulted in huge advertising budget cut-backs in the developed world in recent years. Only a manufacturer who has taken leave of his senses will throw even more money at a strategy that doesn’t work.

The strategy responsible operates under the title Emotional Sales Proposition (ESP), thought in some quarters to be an advance on the Unique Sales Proposition (USP) which, on the contrary, does actually work. What has been overlooked or, more likely, ignored, is that in developing the principle of the USP in the late 1950s, the brilliant Rosser Reeves was striving to replace an advertising strategy that had been in situ for 30 or so years and was fast running out of steam. What was the device he was hoping to supersede? Well, by any other name, it was the emotional sales proposition. I won’t bore you with the detail, but if you’d like to find out more, you should lay your hands on Reeves’ book, Reality in Advertising (MacGibbon & Kee – 1961). It could be an eye-opener.

So, it’s true – the one thing we learn from history is that we never learn anything from history. Let’s go back to Dr Johnson. It’s worth remembering that the kind of advertising old Sam was talking about in the 18th century was fairly innocuous and largely unexceptionable. It could be read in coffee- house flyers, in chapbooks and in rudimentary newspapers; and it consisted of sales messages as diverse as where to get your wig powdered and the date of the next public hanging at Tyburn. Even so, the products and services on offer were as important to the people of the time as mobile phones and computers are to us.

In the human condition, nothing much changes. Our egos still need to be massaged and we are all in hot pursuit of happiness. Only our methods for achieving these goals, only our technologies, vary with time.

So the next time you are tempted to commit advertising, think about Sam Johnson and give your market a reason for owning your product. A good reason.

About The Author

Patrick Quinn is an award winning copywriter with 40 years' experience of the advertising business in London, Miami, Dublin and Edinburgh. Your customers are far more likely to need up to nine contacts from you before they trust you enough to buy from you.

Nine!

That's up sharply from when I entered the marketing field lo those many years ago, and you should expect that number to continue rising over your career too. The good news is that there are some very simple steps you can take to eliminate some of those contacts, or at least shorten the time span from initial contact to first sale.

The first step is to acknowledge that we've created our own monster in our efforts to build our businesses. On average, we’re bombarded by more than 3,000 sales and marketing messages everyday. That's 3,000 times a day someone waves something in our face, or shouts something in our ear in an effort to get us to buy this, do that, and spend the rest now.

Next, think about how you react to this daily assault. As consumers (for ourselves or our company), we’ve all gotten very good at tuning ads out online. It's a basic survival tactic.

Like warriors on a dawn patrol in enemy territory, we'll jump from a site two seconds after we land there if we catch a glimpse of an annoying animated gif whosits or doodad in the corner of the page. We use weapons like search engines, popup blockers, personal portal homepages and newsreaders to filter out all but the information we want to see right now.

But we do more than try to avoid them. We sneer at blinking yellow “security alerts” that offer to eliminate adware deposited on our computer when someone clicks on something like a blinking yellow security alert message. We roll our eyes at Hollywood style hype. And our response to claims of “new and improved” anything is a yawned, “yeah, right.”

We’ve become jaded, cynical, distrustful, and focused on nothing but fending off all distractions between us and the information we’re online to retrieve. Is it any wonder we arrive at the end of our day exhausted, with cramped hands, hunched shoulders and clenched jaws?

Now switch hats quickly and look at this from your perspective as a business promoting yourself online. Any way you can help a battle weary consumer get more value out of your website and emails will help you earn their business, right?

Obviously, giving them a clearly marked path from landing point to information source wrapped in an appealing design is something you must do. But that alone may not be enough to win their dollars. You still have to win their attention and their respect before they’ll set foot on that path.

Fortunately there is a very simple, affordable way you can do it. With no shouting.

Today’s streaming video tools allow you to easily provide visitors with a brief personal message that does more than command instant attention. A simple greeting that you create and manage yourself opens the door to a genuine conversation. All the technical barriers of the web fall away in the face of it and your visitor learns what he needs to know about you in seconds.

How? Your expressions, your gestures, your smile, and your tone of voice, hold more power to attract attention, convey a deeper meaning to your message and convince people of your sincerity than anything else you can do. Scientists have proven that up to 93% of what we learn and remember from a conversation comes from these unspoken, and unwritten clues.

Your human visitors absorb and process all that complicated information a matter of seconds in an attempt to answer one question. They’re looking for the consistency between your words and your non verbal message that will tell them whether or not they can trust you and believe what you say has value to them.

That makes you the very best tool you have to increase your credibility. If you’re feeling too shy to step in front of the camera consider this. As a solo entrepreneur, your goals will be to make yourself known to your target market and then elevate the relationship to the trust level. This process of building relationships can take many forms. Take a few minutes to review what is working for you in this area. Then consider these ideas to add to your relationship building toolkit.

30 Second Introduction

Have you upgraded your 30 second introduction lately? If you haven’t revised it in the past year chances are the impact may be stale. A new introduction can spark your own energy which will show when you introduce yourself. Consider the use of powerful action words such as create, design, compose, organize, generate, solve, produce, and supply. Deliver it in front of a mirror and see what others see.

What do you have to give?

We often think of what we want to get from relationships. Things like a request for proposal, a new resource, a potential alliance, or a business contact or sale. Flip this over and consider what you are willing to GIVE to your network of potential customers. Do you offer sample products or trial services? Do you have free information that your target market can use? Can you provide a free evaluation of your client’s current service provider? Keep in mind that building relationships is a two way flow that begins with you. Approaching these relationships in a giving, proactive mode is a terrific beginning.

Follow up, Follow up

The simple act of following up with individuals that you meet for the first time will make you stand out. Very few people use a consistent follow up method over a period of time. You must have contact information in order to implement this step. Successful follow up actions include handwritten notes (they stand out), e-zines, newsletters, holiday or birthday cards, an article of interest, and invitations to an event. Choose several actions that fit your personal style and do them consistently. Watch your network grow as you demonstrate an interest in building the relationship.

Tracking System

Consistency in building relationships will be difficult to maintain without a method to capture and maintain contact information in a practical way. This means being accessible and easily updated for changes. Contact software such as ACT, Goldmine, and Outlook were created for this purpose. Other options include business card files, Rolodex, Palm Pilots, and planner systems such as Day-timer or Franklin. Choose the system that fits your work style and schedule time for communication with your contacts and maintenance of the database. This nut and bolts step is an important part of building relationships over time.

Plant a Seed

Think of building relationships in the same way as planting seeds. In order for the seeds to grow, they need water, food, and sunlight over time. For relationships to grow, you provide opportunities for your network to get to know you, what you provide, and ultimately trust you with their business.

marketing, business development, networking, business relationships

About The Author

Charlotte Farrior is a coach who works with people willing to invest in themselves. It's too easy to get away with it. A Click Fraud perpetrator can easily go to an Internet Cafe or Library and start clicking away for hours without getting caught.

One way to resolve this problem is to use misspelled keywords in your ads and listings ...how are the crooks going to find your ads unless they go through every misspelling possible?

It is estimated that over 21% of all internet searches are entered as misspelled words or phrases anyway. And it is much cheaper to bid on keywords that are misspelled as they are not as popular as the keywords with the highest search rankings.

Two excellent programs which have come out recently, will generate a list of misspelled keywords, which can then be entered into the PPC's with inexpensive bids. These keywords will get you top spot on the results pages most of the time since they are rarely used.

Although this is not a complete solution it goes a long way in helping to reduce it.

======================================
Click Fraud Solutions…
http://tinyurl.com/5y3y4
http://tinyurl.com/6hpzc
======================================

Spyware is now essential...

And this one's free, unless you want to donate a few bucks to the programmer.

Check it out...it's Spybot Search and Destroy!
http://tinyurl.com/yrwy2

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://marketingknowledge.blogspot.com/2004/12/spyware-is-now-essential.html' title='Spyware is now essential...
